Background
Assembly Bill 1142–the California Statewide African American HIV/AIDS Initiative–was passed in 2005. The Coalition, a group of HIV/AIDs agency leaders charged with implementing the bill, needed materials the group could use as it developed partnerships and plans to address the epidemic among California African Americans.
Target Audiences
Legislators, policy makers, community-based organizations; health care providers.
Objective
To develop an informational packet that outlined the situation as it relates to AIDs in the black communities of California; the exact wording of the bill; and the goals of the initiative.
Implementation
Implementation: A 16-page booklet was developed that now provides consistent messaging and a focus on the vision and objectives of the Initiative.
Results
Coalition members are thrilled to have an attractive and professional information packet and are actively distributing the material to develop their partnerships.
